Hi, my wife and I are getting children in our 40ies, so we are afraid of CNS abnormalities. How can this be checked?

Hi, usually amniocentesis test is done to check for any CNS abnormality. But, thee are also some other tests. Some say that amnio doesn't tell whole story with CNS abnormalities. Often more detailed testing, including fetal MRIs is needed. It is also important to take a look at family history of diseases. Rules to keep in mind in genetic counseling are essential to follow and you can counsel a specialist. There are even fetal surgeries done intrauterine to solve any existing problem.
