I’ve been having CRPS symptoms for some times. My doctor said that he cannot determine the cause. My pain is spreading from one side of the body to another. He believes that there was some condition that put me in risk of CRPS. What are the risk factors?
The cause of reflex sympathetic dystrophy is not known, not even to your doctor, and it likely results from several factors. It may involve over activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which directs automatic body functions that a person cannot willfully control or inflammation may play a role. A risk factor is something that increases your chances of getting a CRPS. That can be: surgery, fractures, burns, crush injury, frostbite, and penetrating injury.
