I am prescribed with Dextroamphetamine by my doctor. But when I came home I have realized that I didn't tell him about Promethazine that I use. My next appointment at the doctor is scheduled next week. What should I do until then? I am not sure that I can use those two medications together.
As far as I know it would be the best to avoid taking those two drugs together. Promethazine may antagonize the pharmacologic effects of amphetamine and cause serious side effects like fatal venticular arrhytmia. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown but may involve opposing effects. Maybe the best solution is to call your doctor by the phone and ask for an advice.
