Can a person become dependent on Diphenhidramine

I see on net that I am not the only one with sleeping problems. Maybe we, with insomnia, should get together at night and play some cards? I am kidding, and this is a serious issue. I am taking dipenhydramine so I could fall asleep. Benadryl, to be more specific. I have realized that it has sleeping advantages while I was taking it for my allergy. I would like to know can a person become dependent on Diphenhidramine? I mean I wont take it all my life.

Yes you can become dependent. I have seen that on my wife's example. She was using sleep aids and finally when she started withdrawal she couldn't fall asleep without it. The body was crying for medication. She had to go to the rehab. Of course it doesn't mean that it has to be that way. When you decide to stop taking sleep aids don't do it suddenly. Cut the doses for some time and when you feel ready stop. If you notice some problems talk with your doctor.
