My mother is 63 years old and has lupus for almost two years now. She has been dealing with it very good, bit I am still trying to find the most effective therapy for her. Can flares of SLE be prevented? She has been taking corticosteroids for periodical attacks and they do job, quite well, but is there something better?
Actually, if corticosteroids are showing effect, then they must be your weapon of choice in this battle against SLE. For now, there is no medication that can prevent all the attacks (it would mean discovering of the cure). Still, subduing the symptoms is a great way to normalize patient's life and maintain its quality.
