Can hearing loss be hereditary?

Hello! I want to ask you following: Can hearing loss be hereditary? I am asking you this because my younger sister is suffering from hearing loss and she is pregnant right now, so, she is very concerned will her baby one day will have same problem. I kindly ask you to answer me this as soon as possible.

Hello! Unfortunately, that is the true. It is known more than hundred genes which causes hearing loss. But, on the other hand, maybe this will not be a case with your nephew or niece. Suggest your sister, when she get baby, to take it to audiologist and check baby’s hearing. I hope my answer helped you!
