| Hello. People with Tourette syndrome produce unusual movements or sounds. They have no or little control over them. They can have simple tics that are sudden and brief. They can also show complex tics that involve several muscle groups. There are motor and vocal tics. Motor tics could be: eye blinking, finger flexing, flapping arms, obscene gestures, touching the nose or other people, smelling the objects, etc. Vocal tics can be: yelling, hiccupping, barking, throat clearing… Complex vocal tics include using different intonations of the voice, repeating other’s words or phrases, obscene language, etc. They can also sense sensory tics like tickling, warmth, cold, etc. Your friend should consult with psychiatrist or neurologist. |
