Hello! My sister is 42 and she suffers from mild myopia. She wears glasses all the time and she has been wearing them since she was a school girl. She was able to see near objects clear till recently. She was also able to read comfortably without her eye glasses. But, her condition has changed recently. She can’t see almost anything without glasses and she suffers from mild myopia. Is it common?
Hello! Many people with myopia are usually able to read without eyeglasses even after the age of 40. Your sister should visit her eye doctor since her eyes probably developed presbyopia. Many people with myopia have problems after the age of 40 when the eyes become presbyopic and lose their ability to accommodate or change focus. She will need to use glasses for reading, most probably bifocals, whose corrective lenses each contain regions with two distinct optical powers.
