Can u get false negative result if u test to far into pregnancy?

I havent had my period in 5 mos. but normally im regular.The first month I missed my period I took a home pregnancy test it was negative.Recently I retested it still shows negative but I have pregnancy symptoms and feel movement in my stomach I have had three other children so I know how fetal movement feels .Can u help me I just need to know if u test too far into pregnancy can u get false results.If so how far into pregnancy could the results be affected .
