Can vitamin D help with arthritis?

Hello! My grandfather has arthritis. Although he is under regular treatment I think that his symptoms became worse in last few months. We tried to change his nutrition but he didn’t like it at all. He likes to eat meat most of all and we couldn’t do anything about it. Now, we are trying with additional vitamins and I would like to know if vitamin D helps with arthritis.
