Can you be addicted to something you don't like?
I have GERD and I can't stand the taste of Mylanta, but I use it everytime I feel the need to, which is often.I sometimes use is every 2 hours. I use up 1 bottle in 3 weeks, and without taking it my gerd gets bad.Is that an addiction?

I wouldn’t call this addiction because you’re not abusing this drug but using it every time you have and experience problems with GERD.
You may become tolerant and need more and more of the drug to get rid of bad GERD symptoms but I don’t think you are psychologically addicted to it. Building tolerance can lead to physical addiction.

Psychological addiction is the worst kind of addiction from my point of view.
But I am talking about drugs here. I don’t know how it works for medications although I know that a person may become dependent on some pain killers.
Are these drugs prescribed to be taken every two hours? Do you eat that often? If you are not getting any help from this drug, you should definitely talk to your doc about changing your treatment.
