An online Canadian survey that investigated teens knowledge on sex and sexual infectious gave disappointing results. Not only did the children fail correctly to answer many of the questions but their parents didn’t show better either.

A large number of the kids examined answered that they considered oral sex as an sex abstinence, that sexually transmitted diseases were not transmittable via oral sex but also a large number admitted having oral sex.

What is worse, one fourth of teens and one fifth of parents thought that sexually transmitted diseases could be spread via public toilet seats and poor personal hygiene.

When asked about parent-child communication regarding sexual topic, both parties answered that they found such situations uncomfortable. But, isn’t that what parents are supposed to do-handle many uncomfortable situations for their children benefits?

But it seems that the problem is much deeper and consists in parents ignorance. Many of them know only what they have been told when they were kids and when it was really embarrassing to talk about it.
Thousand of dollars are being spent on sexual education but it seems as if no one is getting the message.
