Hello.
Cardiac catheterization is a procedure done on the heart. Doctors insert a thin plastic tube, which is called catheter into an artery or vein(this could be on leg or arm). To explain the term: everything that has to do with heart is connected to term cardiac (for example heart diseases: cardio diseases) and the term catheterization: a procedure where they insert catheter.
Ok, to return where I stopped, from artery or vein (in leg or arm) catheter is advanced into the chambers of the heart. This can measure blood pressure in heart, oxygen in the blood, gives info about the pumping ability of the heart muscle.
I hope you understand what will happen to your father a little bit more.
