|

Hi, I'm 19 years old and I have a great problem concerning having sex. I'm not a virgin, I have a boyfriend that loves me very much, we are together of 4 months now but I have a problem with having sex, every time we have sex it is so painfull for me and it causes me great discomfort. I don’t bleed or anything like that after sex, sometimes I get a vaginal discharge and that’s it. What could be the cause of this pain and what do I do about it?

The pain while having sex is usually related to some condition that is going on either in the uterus, vagina or sometimes the ovaries. First you should make sure that your vagina and vulva aren’t dry during sex because increased friction can cause great discomfort and pain both in you and your boyfriend. If that’s the case you should try using a vaginal lubricant, many of which you can find in pharmacies or sex stores. Using it will decrease the friction, prevent the pain and discomfort. The other cause of the painfull sexual intercourse can be some kind of an infection in the vagina or uterus. Also remaining hymenal tissue can cause pain in some women, if you have hymenal remnant tissue you should have it removed. Also conditions like ovary cysts and endometriosis can cause pain during sex. To determine the exact cause of the pain you should go to your gynecologist and get examined, because it is impossible to guess the exact diagnosis based on little information you gave me. Good luck, hope you’ll solve your problem.

i would defiantly go to your gyno, but it most likely could be a yeast infection. i would try some over the counter medications for a yeast infection, if this fails then the gyno is a must. remember to always urinate after intercourse! |

eekk!! it's not nessacary to remove your hymen if you've managed to keep it this long! you can, but you can also learn to work around it if you like (my best friend does just this and loves it).
so what type of pain are we talking about here? burning? throbbing? aching? tenderness? where is the pain? deep in the vaginia? at the opening? on the vulva? how long does it occur? does it linger after sex for more than a few hours? a few days? when during sex do you feel the pain? how much foreplay is going on? answer me these questions and perhaps i can give you some options as to the source of your discomfort. |

| For 5 years I had painful intercourse and was finally diagnosed with a diverticulated urethra--make sure your gynecologist does a digital exam before insertion of the speculum. When the speculum was inserted first it pushed the diverticulated urethra back through the vaginal wall making it hard to diagnose |

| i am 22, have been with my boyfried for a year and a half. Its only over the past couple of months that i've noticed this. After any penetrive sex that is even slightly deep it causes me so much pain when having sex, my boyfriend is unable to insert his penis all the way without it hurting inside me ( its not overly large either) it just feels like my inside is too small for his penis and it touches the top of my womb area and causes a lot of pain for me. It then stays like this for about 3 days after. Sometimes its not so bad but then other times it causes a lot of discomfort. can you help me please? im worried theres something wrong |

| vaginal discharge and pain during sex are symptoms of chlamydia, I would go to the gynecologist as soon as possible. Chlamydia is treatable with antibiotics but if left untreated, it could cause serious problems such as infertility. |
