Many scientists around the world have been trying to figure out the effects mobile phones have on humans and their health. It is certain that electromagnetic frequencies emitted from phones and frequent exposure to them has an impact on the part of the brain cortex nearest to the phone but it is still not known what kind of an affect.
It was found that the brain was excited by these EMFs but it yet needs to be cleared if this is useful or harmful for people with brain diseases.
The Italian researchers who performed the last study wanted to see if these emissions could have an impact on the brain and if they contributed to cancer cells formation.
In the study, Italian researchers used Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to check brain function while people used mobile phones. Fifteen volunteers used GSM 900 cell phone for 45 minutes while their brains were scanned. In 12 out of 15 study participants, the monitor detected that the cells in the motor cortex adjacent to the cell phone showed excitability during phone use. However, the cells have returned to normal within one hour.
So, the researchers didn’t manage to show that the phones had any negative impacts on the brain but still they believe that people, especially those with epilepsy, could be affected in any way and have3 decided not to quit from the further studies. |
