Cervical discetomy

After years and years of suffering with migraines and neck stiffness I started getting more and more symptoms ie tingling,tightness, and numbing down my left arm. I finally decided enough was enough and I started taking action. I had and MRI with listed several herniated disc, but the worse one was causing the symptoms going down my arm. I was referred to a neurosurgeon in my little town and decided I didn't want the little town doctors to do any type of procedure like I thought I would need. So I found a doctor affiliated with University of PA. The first minute my husband and I spoke with him, we realized we made the right decision. I am finally FINALLY going to have some relief. I am scheduled for a cervical discectomy with cervical fusion on 5/16/07. I am scared to death BUT I am excited. I've had this injury since 1987. If there is anybody out there that can walk me through this I would appreciate it. I'm so so nervous.
