What can you tell ma about the hereditary risk when it comes to thyroid tumor and RET mutation? I am pregnant now and I need to know is my child in any danger of getting affected by this condition. I was, but I pulled through and I don’t want my kid to have a similar problem.

I have to say that there are many research studies that try to determine the factors that induce the thyroid tumor. Of course, there is some risk involved when one of the parents had that tumor, especially if the child inherited “bad” DNA that caused parent’s tumor. Still, with a regular examination something like this can be prevented, and if the condition still emerges, reacted in time.
