I can not leave my kid to eat alone; he immediately starts choking on food. I thought that he was playing with me at the beginning, but now I can see that he isn’t. It is a big problem and I don’t know what to do about it? He is 4 years old.

Young children do not have the back teeth needed to chew and grind lumps of food properly as these may not be fully developed until around 4 years of age and Food swallowed in large pieces is more likely to get stuck and block off the airways. When the food goes down the wrong way, it can cause young children to choke, also If he runs, plays, laughs or cries while eating he is more likely to choke on his food. Consult a doctor about this. I can suggest you Avoid foods like raw carrot, celery sticks and apple pieces, do not give foods that can break off into hard pieces, cut sausages and other meats into small piece.
