Citrucel (Methylcellulose)

Hello, my son is 14 years old. He has severe defecation problems. I mean, he has constipation that last for 5 or 6 days and when he defecates, he describes the stool as very hard and the entire process discomforting. I am very worried for him, doctor prescribed him with Citrucel (Methylcellulose) and I would just like some info on that drug. Did anyone use it?

Hello, I had similar problems as your son has now. Regular food diet, with a lot of cereals, fruit and vegetables (with a lot of water) and with Citrucel helped me fast to regulate my defecation, even though I thought it nearly impossible. He is still young; he might do some exercises to improve metabolism and intestines motions.
