HI, I have been prescribed with Claritine for asthma. Before, I have been using some other corticosteroids. Is this drug better than corticosteoids for asthma?

Hi, Claritin is actually used for allergy. It contains an antihistamin drug loratadine. You can take it only if your asthma is related to allergy, aggravated in allergy time or so. So, if you use it, be cautious when driving, operating machinery, as it has sedating effect. Loratadine can even provoke dizziness or drowsiness. Although, it belongs to second class of antihistamins with less side effects. If you have asthma and allergies, you need to be very careful, since allergies can bring on asthma attacks. Corticosteroids are used to inhibit inflammation process and damage of the body tissues.
