Hi. A friend of mine told me she has a closed cervix. What could be the cause of closed cervix? I know it is something they tell you month after you deliver a baby. However, she has no kids.

Hi. Closed cervix means that your cervix is no longer open, as in delivery, and you are less likely to have infections. However, if your friend has never had a child, this could not be such a good thing. The cause of closed cervix may be trauma or scar tissue from surgery, for example a leep procedure. You can`t conceive with closed cervix. If your friend had a cervical cancer treatment, such complication is possible. However, a regular pap smear can prevent it. Also, changes in cervical conditions may be caused by uterine protection, fertility and early or late birth. I have a 3 months old baby girl. When my doc told me my cervix is closed, I was really happy.
