| Hi, I am in fifth month of pregnancy and my doctor told me to cut out all coffee and tea until the end of pregnancy. Is the coffee and tea harmful for the baby or it is just another mainstream of healthy life? What can I expect with my newborn child as I have drunk too much coffee in first trimester? |

| Although caffeine does cross the placenta, moderate amounts of it, as less than 300 milligrams per day will not harm your baby. As far as it knows by now, high caffeine consumption may slightly increase the risk of preterm labor or low birth weight. Pregnant women should limit the amount of green tea during pregnancy and taking any green tea supplements. |
