A pimple appears in the exact same spot on my outer lip once in a while. It does tingle a little, but does not hurt at all. It has a single, puss filled head, and behaves just like a pimple that I would get anywhere else- which doesn't fit the description of cold sores. But could it really be anything else?

| omg - i've got the exact same thing - and for a while i've been doubting whether they're cold sores too - i dont at all get what people call that tingle feeling - i just see the redness when it starts and think "uh-oh..." and zovirax doesnt seem to do anything for it, even if i put it on right when i see it (ok, maybe about an hour after i see it cause i have to go to the chemist) |

| Same thing. I think it might be caused by some kind of ingrown hair that happens to sit inconveniently right on top of my lip. Not completely sure though. |

| Hey i had that on my lip aswell, i then popped it and a couple of days later i have now got a coldsore. Your more prone to get a coldsore due to the open wound. If you have never had a coldsore before then dont worry. If you had one before ild advise treatment! |

| Not the same as the sexual herpes, but similar in how it acts. Look it up. Don't worry most of the adult population has had herpes on their lips at one time or another and it is not from the herpes down below! |

| Hey guys, as funny as this may sound, i was looking for hair products and research different things, to help re-grow hair. Help it to grow faster, thicker and stronger, one of the main things is Vitamin B (to be more specific B2 B6 B12), It is said if you are lacking Vitamin B in you're body (more so vitamin B2) it can result in you're skin breaking out in sores around the lip. hope this helps cheers. |

this is an ingrown hair that happens because of the change of skin type between your facial skin and your lip skin and the location of the hair follicle. you can see on the right side of the picture near the corner of the mouth how some of close some of the darker hairs get to the lip transition. the hair will grow slower and less frequent because of the transition between the skin and a slight blockage to that pore will cause this infected ingrown hair (which behaves like a pimple) to occur. i get them all the time and can usually spot them before they get that infected.
you can see where the pore is (the darker spot in the middle). what i do and recommend for anyone with this condition is to take a hot shower or put a warm cloth on your face to soften the skin and you should use a sterilized needle to poke where you see the pore to be. then use two (2) q-tips to squeeze the infection out (stop if you see blood) and wash the area again with soap to clean it out. it should start to heal but if it persists, try again in a few days.
cold sores are completely different and can be caused by too much citric acid intake (orange juice, lemonade, etc.). chocolate and nuts i believe have nothing to do with either condition... i suspect that everything is in your head and you are searching for coincidental events to explain your health issues... |
