My spouse had colostomy surgery done 2months ago. He has rectal cancer. Before the surgery he was having continous bowel movement along with blood and mucus. Since the surgery he has a colostomy bag and he has no problems with his bowel movements but over the past 1 1/2 weeks he noticed the rectal bleeding along with mucus has returned. He is due to begin radiation soon. We thought after the surgery the bleeding and mucus would stop. It only did for a while. Would the radiation help relieve this problem.? The CT Scan showed that the cancer had not spread hence the reason for the surgery being hasten. Is is normal for there to be bleeding from the anus after two months of this surgery?
