My daughter is almost 13- she has not started having periods yet. At 2 months of age, she received her normal vaccinations, and had a reaction to the pertussis vaccine. She was very sick & in children's hospital for about 3 weeks, and we went home with diagnosis of asthma, reflux, etc. (she has had no symptoms of any of these over 12 years now...)

Over the last year, she has had several things go wrong healthwise- none with a clear diagnosis. For about 6 months, she had horrible headaches & was on stadol nosespray for the severe pain. No diagnosis.

For the last couple of months, she has had stomach pains. Not menstrual type cramps, and pain is worse after eating. Her regular doc referred to gastroenterologist, but did CT Scan last week in the meantime. Said all results show fine, except that she has a "small amount of fluid" in the endometrium (uterus).

Naturally, I am concerned. He wants to refer her to gyno for workup, but I've heard so much about gyno. cancers lately that I am VERY worried....

Any of this sound familiar to anyone ? Thanks for reading!

I have athsma too, so I understand the worry with any kind of breathing problems.

I started my first period at 14 =) I had a good 3-4 months of funny cramps, and then one day I used the bathroom at school and saw my period. I also have IBS, and have chronic pain after eating, and when using the bathroom sometimes...

Fluid in the uterus can be something as simple as her period is soon going to start-up, and it just has to happen.

Cancer in a teen her age is extremely rare! Definately take her to a gyno and see what happens.

Fluid can be caused by many simple things, and is not always a terrible sign.

Carifairy-

Thank you for the kind words. I guess I would not be so panicky if we had ever had a clear diagnosis of what is going on. But more often than not we hear "Well, I'm not sure....". Sometimes I think that we look to doctors to be miracle workers- maybe it's good that they haven't found a clear diagnosis.... I am thankful for the things they can tell me it is NOT, such as brain tumors, etc.
