Hi, I started using birth control pills two months ago. To be honest, I’m not taking them only because of their birth control effectiveness, but also because I read that they reduce oily skin and pimples. However, my skin problems only got worse, and I’m very Concerned and confused about that.

Hi, my girlfriend is using birth control pills. We thought it was the best solution, because the risk of getting pregnant is too big with condoms. When we read about those pills, there were dozens of promises and benefits from using those pills. Only one of them was realized. She doesn’t have irregular periods any more, and they’re less painful. However, all the other benefits didn’t happen. She is concerned and confused, and doesn’t know what to do. Opinions are very different when it comes to birth control pills. Some doctors think that they increase breast cancer, but the others think that the risk is reduced. There is also an opinion that birth control pills increase cellulite, because of the estrogen that is contained. It’s no wonder that she’s so concerned and confused.

guys, if you're concerned about oily skin or excessive hair or anything not related to the direct benefits of birth control pills (ie preventing pregnancy), go and see your doctor and they will prescribe something specific for your problems! there are other ways of correcting your skin oil levels etc than taking the pill. the other effects of the pill vary drastically amongst women, so it's not really a safe bet to just think youll react highly to them in this way.
