What can be the consequences of mild brain concussion? My sister had one two weeks ago when she had car accident. She feels much better now and fortunately that wasn’t serious accident, she hasn’t broken anything. Doctor told us that she had concussion. Can it cause delayed consequences? She is 18.
Concussion is the least serious and the most common type of brain injury caused by trauma. It may cause transient memory loss. The mildest grade of concussion involves only confusion and the 2nd grade involves amnesia that lasts less than 5 minutes. Concussion symptoms like headaches, dizziness, sound and light sensitivity, memory and attention problems may last 4-6 weeks more, sometimes even longer but usually go on their own. The best therapy is rest and physical therapy.
