Confused about how they figure weeks out!

Hello,

I am 11 weeks along, and according to this book that the doctor gave me, it puts me at 3 and 1/2 months but that doesnt make any sense to me! I am due December 10th, and the baby was conceived in March, so i thought that i am 2 1/2 months! It just doesnt make sense to me and i am getting confused. I know they calculate it different but I would like to know whether i am 2 1/2 months or 3 1/2. Also, what is the last week for the first trimester, some say 12 weeks (like the book my doctor gave me), and others say 14? I am just not sure about anything right now.

You are considered pregnant for 40 weeks. They start counting weeks from when you ovulate which is about 2 weeks before you miss your period. If they say you are 15 weeks along, you actually conceived the baby 13 weeks ago. Hope this helps!
