My very good friend has a child who is suffering from congenital hypothyroidism. I heard about this disorder but last week my friend told me that her kid is having speech problems. I would like to help her but I really do not know how to do it. Are there any rehabilitation groups or something like that which may be useful?

Hi, my very good friend also has a kid who is suffering from hypothyroidism. Her kid is little girl and she had speech problem too. As much as I know this speech disorder is characterized by slow, slurred speech. If you start therapy with iodine supplements and hormones it is possible to revitalize speech of your child. Off course it is the best to find good therapist who will work with your kid.
