Consolidation Therapy

My husband has recently been operated. The surgeons removed a part of his intestines that was affected by a malign tumor. These past few months were really hard for both of us, but it seems that the battle is only beginning, since he has to go for a chemo-therapy. Couple of times doctors mentioned a Consolidation Therapy. What does that mean? Is that some new sort of treatment or something else?

Consolidation Therapy is just a step in a post op procedure that tries to consolidate the good things the good things we obtain by the surgery. It follows the induction, and tries to further reduce the cancer cell number thus helping the reemission. The last phase would be a maintenance therapy that is trying to stop the possible relapse.
