Cost of inguinal hernia operation

My brother needs a hernia operation, but has no money or health insurance. I want to help pay for it, but have no idea how much it would cost. About a year ago, a doctor told him he probably had an INGUINAL HERNIA. He lives in the Northern Virginia area. Can you tell me how much, in general, it would cost?

I've read on the internet that there's basically two type of operations: (1) the standard (incisions are made) and takes longer to heal; and (2)Laparoscopy (surgical telescopy).

Were you able to find out anything about this surgery cost for your brother? My brother also needs hernia surgery & has no insurance, so I am doing similar research. If you've found anything, it would be really helpful.
