Okay well here's my story. I started smoking pot and weed when i was about 16, I stopped smoking cigs, then tried cloves and blacknmilds, but stopped those after a year. But have been smoking pot ever since, I'm 24 now.
I have always had a problem with allergies and sinus infections. I got a catscan when i was a kid and they said I had chronic rhinitus (chronic swelling of the sinuses) and I get sinus infections about 4 times a year. They never addressed my lung issue and I don't have health insurance anymore.
I cough up mucus with black globs, dots, or strands. Its always worse after I get better from being sick. When I'm sick I start off with scratchy dry throat, then I get fever and stuffed up nose and swelled up sinuses. Then I get a raspy cough, then I start coughing up green chunky stuff. I use to be on antibiotics all the time when I was sick like that, but I don't think they were helping. Now when I get sick I don't take any antibiotics, I just treat the symptoms and the green stuff and other symptoms go away after a week or so. But the black stuff is always worse after.. I have to force it up by exhaling until I feel the crackling in my lungs and then coughing hard to spit it up.
I have always assumed it was a good thing. Because I asked all my pot-smoking friends if they cough up black stuff, and none do, but all of them smoke cigs and I don't. I've read on multiple forums that cigs close up the lungs and weed opens them up, so I should be glad I'm getting rid of all the black stuff. Somebody on another forum mentioned several of their other symptoms including night sweats and dizziness. I get those as well, not so much the dizziness I thought.. until friends around me tell me they don't get dizzy hardly at all.
I'm wondering if the black stuff in my lungs causes me to get sick with the green stuff in the first place. Oh yeah I've also coughed up blood several times, always when I'm sick with the green chunky infections. Oh and the chucks can come from my nose or my lungs. I have three things I have to do all the time.. exhale from my lungs to cough things up, snort air through my sinuses to the back of my throat to clear my sinuses (can either swallow or spit that out.. much prefer to spit) and blow my nose to get anything further up their.
I don't have to call out from work much.. just the first day of me being sick is the only day I can't do anything. But getting sick often sucks, all my friends catch it from me but I get the worst of it and it lasts the longest for me. Black stuff doesn't seem good either.. I don't want lung cancer or anything.. probably will stop smoking soon.
So to sum it up.. I smoke weed, not cigs, I work out, and I have alot of sinus problems/infections etc.. had walking pnemonia once and they gave me the antibiotics they were giving to anthrax patients lol
Now anyone got something they want to say, BESIDES stop smoking? |

Hey guys,
I am 22 years old. I have smoke filterless cigs and 5-6 blunts a day since i was 12. i got your problems, and COPD on top of that. today i am a medical student and learning serious shit about this. the idea is that smoking stuns the cilia in your lungs which sweep the tar out. the top 23% of my lungs have dead cilia which will never grow back so that tar will never come out and cause emphysema. the rest just gets stuned and wakes up in a few days. thats why you cough it up when you go a few days without smoking. it is better to get it out. being so young and about to die i suggest to you all : dont stop! but take brakes. smoke for a while- stop for a week. exercise and cough it all out. the worst thing to do is smoke every few hours since then the cilia never wake up and clean your lungs out. you can smoke, its killin me but i love it. the thing is recovery time. same as body building. you can be stuck on corticosteroids for the rest of your life like me to lower the inflamation and continue, or you can just rest in between and your beautiful body will take care of its self. well i hope that helps some one. |

This case that you have is known as Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. |
Don't listen to this guy, he's an idiot. Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) is a bleeding condition in which the blood doesn’t clot as it should. This is due to a low number platelets. People who have ITP often have purple bruises that appear on the skin or on the mucous membranes (for example, in the mouth). The bruises mean that bleeding has occurred in small blood vessels under the skin. A person who has ITP also may have bleeding that results in tiny red or purple dots on the skin. These dots, often seen on the lower legs, are called petechiae. Petechiae may look like a rash. People with ITP may have nosebleeds, bleeding from the gums when they have dental work done, or other bleeding that’s hard to stop. Women with ITP may have heavy menstrual bleeding. For most children and adults, ITP isn’t a serious or life-threatening condition.
If Mark had read any reply before he posted, he would have seen this is nothing like what you all have. I am 27 and have smoked both cigs and pot since I was 15, cigs more when I was younger but now mostly pot. I experience the black stuff when I rip the bong too hard and cough my arse off and I get alot while recovering from a cold. Better out than in I always say. I say eat well, take your vitamins and quit the cigs. Honestly, would they legalize something for medical usage if could potentially kill you? And when was the last time your Dr. prescribed you a pack of smokes or a 12 pack of beer?
Just my 2 pennies, thanks for reading. |

| I have never smoked cigs only smoked pot a few times and smoke shisha on a regular basis, I got a cold this fall and the fist odd thing i noticed was this black in my flem. I wasnt sure what to make of it I figured it had to either be tar or coal or something but I'm only 18 and it kind of scared me I dont usually get sick at this time of year and my doctor tried to say nothing was wrong with me, just a bit of drainage. Black drainage? i dont think so. lemme kno what you think |

| I am having the same problem, that's why i searched this topic i do get the odd pain in my lungs sometimes, just recently i was smoking around a carton every 3 days, (200 cigerettes), i just went down to 5 MAX a day, i smoke an ounce of weed everyday no matter what, and it is good weed. but the difference here is that i have already went to go see the doctor, they scanned my lungs and they came out clear, im 17 years old and iv been smoking since i have been 11, pot and cigs (cigs acouple months later), now the doctor recommended to stop smoking for at least a year or untill your lungs clear, then you can either keep them that way or load em up agian. |
