I am 49 years old and I have a question concerning my mental health. I am constantly changing moods, crying at one moment and feeling happy the other and that is just driving me crazy. I also do not want to burden my family with my condition; I know that it is surely not easy for them. Could I be bipolar?

You did forget about one more possibility. You are in the age when menopause is near and hormonal changes are affecting the overall health status. And that includes drastic and frequent mood changes. And not just that, we should mention sleeping problems, sweating, headaches etc. Still, if you think that there might be something else, you will have to go for an examination.
