Could I have herpes or just irritation?

I have recently had sex with my girlfriend and she hadnt shaved in some time. When we were done I had an irritation at the bottom of my shaft, I figured it was from the friction against her hair. So two days later when I was in the shower I noticed a scab from where the irritation was, could I have herpes or did I get the scab from the rubbing?
