My son has taken different SSRI for the past 7 years for OCD. He took Paxil and then Zolofort. However, about half year ago, he had trouble in concentrating and we tested him for ADHD. Test was positive He stopped with Zoloft for about 1 month earlier in order to change SSRI, but he did not need it any more. Is it possible that he Zoloft could lead to ADHD?

Hello, I can only answer from my own experience. I have noticed myself an increased difficulty with concentration and memory when taking Zoloft so I quit taking it about 30 days ago. Still nothing has improved, I do wonder if the Zoloft is a cause. Who knows, maybe one day will have the correct answer as it has number of adverse side affects.

I have been on Zoloft for almost a year....I was hit in the jaw and began experiencing severe panic attacks etc. Up until this point I had refused to take any prescription drug for any length of time...I am 30 re-entered school for a BA degree. My previous experience in school I never had trouble with focusing on schoolwork, bills etc. But it seems to be getting worse..I constantly have many severe stressors in my life...I have had increasingly difficulty focusing, recently taken ADD test and I am in the middle of the road with test results...my younger cousin was diagnosed years ago, he was medicated for many years and decided he couldn't take it anymore...he became to zombie like...anyway...I am also now being considered and being treated for bipolar. ADD,PTSD, and Bipolar symptoms all mimic each so they are trying to treat and determine what exactly is going on....but I have been diagnosed with PTSD many years before....So on top of Zoloft they have also prescribed Lamictal...I'm starting to get a bit freaked out....now one has mentioned withdrawals symptoms, or as to when I should think about getting off of them...do they help? I don't really know....it's really hard to determine what life experiences are causing emotional issues. I get these thoughts that really doctors etc are just trying to get as many people hooked on what ever drug they can, it's a huge business...or maybe and this is a real possibility as well...that they just don't know what the hell their doing....my aunt and uncle had deformations from their mother being prescribed certain birth control meds... I took birth control pills for many years until I realized they have no idea what dose you actually need..they just give you an amount and see what happens....I got an non-hormonal IUD after that...and they thought I was nuts...because I have not had children yet....
