Could naproxen cause ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding?

My husband just left the hospital. He was admitted because gastrointestinal bleeding. While he was there doctors found out that he has gastric ulcer. Could naproxen cause ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding? Naproxen is the only medication he used in last few years. I think that he used naproxen more often than he needed to.

Naproxen is one of many drugs in the group called none steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Common side effect of these drugs is intestinal bleeding and gastric ulcer. Off course, it does not necessarily mean that Naproxen is the one to be blamed for your husbands problems. It is up to doctor to discover, but is a good information for the start.
