I'm 24 years old and have not had sex in almost 2 months. A little over 3 months ago I was seeing someone and we were sexually active, but we broke the relationship off after about 1 month. I haven't had any sexual contact with any men since then (poor me, I know!).

The first time my ex and I had sex, I had a red bump on my outer labia the very next morning. Both my partner and best girl friend checked me over and we all concluded that it was simply an ingrown hair. It was gone in two days. No biggie, right?

Well, yesterday as I'm in the shower- shaving myself bare as I do on a daily basis- I noticed I felt a bump in about the same spot on my outer labia. The bump felt a little large, but was under the skin, not on top. It honestly looked like a pimple at first glance, when I tilted the skin I saw that it came to a point and then I thought maybe I'd been violated by a pervy insect... I am very succeptable to ingrown hairs since I shave so much, but normally they aren't so red or irritated. Of course I panicked, grabbed a mirror and some tweezers and began nervously hacking away at my poor skin. There was some redness before I started, and of course there's much more now! LOL.

Something I noticed was that it came to a point. Almost like a mountain. At the very top there was a tiny white dot, which is now red because I've all but cut the thing off altogether.

I ran as fast as I could to the only free clinics in my area and was turned away by both because it's Friday and the nurses wanted to leave early. Very "comforting" when someone's suffering an emotional crisis. I talked to my Mom about the situation and she said it's probably just an ingrown hair, told me to do a hot compress, followed by hydrogen peroxide (which I've just about bathed in it religeously all day long!), and then a benadryl creme for bites and skin irritation.

The hot compress worked ok, the skin just got really red. I hacked at myself some more, believing that if it's an ingrown hair, then it's perfect timing to rip it out when the skin is it's most sensative (I'm not the brightest, obviously). Then the hydrogen peroxide made the very top of the bump look like a little white spaghetti-o, which after frantically searching for herpes pictures online- I've come across two pictures (of males) that look identical, but when I leave the stupid thing alone, it seems to settle down and just look like a tiny red dot. Red, because I've hacked the top off.

I know I'm wigging out, yes I know I need to leave my poor self alone, but these supposedly "helpful" clinics wont get me in until Tuesday afternoon and if it is more serious, I'm afraid they wont be able to properly diagnose it by then.

I'll add that there is no clear fluid when I squeeze it- just blood. I haven't noticed anymore discharge than normal, and again, I haven't gotten my grubby hands on a guy in about 2 months now. I have had some burning when I urinate, but only since I ripped the skin to shreds. If I leave it alone, the only discomfort I have is when I cross my legs, the skin irritates itself. I'd like to leave the thing alone, but I'm nutty and it's bothering me to pieces!

I'm having a melt down. Does this sound like it could be serious? Do I need to have a glass (or bottle) of wine and chill out? What can I do in the meantime so it's not so noticeable to me?

I'd like to give a great big Thank You in advance to whomever responds and prevents me from chopping my entire labia off and joining a convent!

By the way, sorry for the double post! Purely accidental!

So now I'm really freaking out. After brutally attacking this stupid bump on my labia, it scabbed over and today the scab came off. It doesn't hurt or anything- I think it hurts my pride actually. It does look a little bit like a sore now. I don't know what's going on, and I'm really worried.

I've seen people respond to other's posts about this, and I don't know if it's just cuz it's the weekend that no one's on to read this or no one feels the need to respond, but if I could just get one response to ease my worries, I'd be grateful. I can't get to a clinic til tomorrow, and I'm not sure if they'll even see me then. Input would be nice.

Genital herpes are BLISTERS, they do not have those 'heads'.

Most likely it was an ingrown hair.

I had something similar once or twice, it was like when you get a sore in your mouth from chewing on your cheeks in your sleep, except down there. Like concave, and had like and ingrown whitish scab on it. It would rub itself in my sleep and hurt, so I cut a piece of gauze from my First Aid kit and put some Neosporin on it, tucked the gauze so it wouldn't move easily, and in a couple days it was gone.

I've also had bumps that didn't really have a head at all, but they were hard and inside of the labia. I talked to my mom about that, she compared them to getting "blind" acne, the really really painful ones that sometimes never come to a head, but by the time you've hacked yourself raw, you now have a lovely disgusting scab staring at you. Anyway, that's all that one turned out to be.

Hope some of this helps. Wink

I am going through the exact same thing. Identically to what you speak of. I tried to pop min too. I went to the doctor to get checked out. She said she did not think it was herpes because I popped it and made the whitish scab on the big bump/mountain. Anyways, she tested me for herpes and I am waiting on the results. I am just as nervous as you... I am suppossed to get the result back this tuesday from the blood test. I will let you know. I have been freaking out too!!!.

Hey I just found these posts and am wondering if any of you actually found out what the bumps were?????

I have had something very similar about 3-4 times now over a period of years. They almost always come up in the same spot on my outer labia and only ever one at a time. Usually when I am a bit stressed about something or not getting enough sleep. I use cream to remove hair in that area, used to wax so I have always thought it was an ingrown hair, but it is quite worrying.

I found some information somewhere about a condition that causes boil like pimples, that you can get in a few different places due to sweat glands, including under your arms, groin and a few other places. I was wondering if some of the post are talking about that? It's called: Hidradenitis Suppurativa You should google it!

Otherwise I have no idea but from the number of things I have read about these things, sounds like it's more common than you would think.
