Hi. I was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and now my doctor tells me that I have diabetes?! Is there a link between CF and diabetes? What is CF related diabetes?
Hi. Some 15% of people with CF have diabetes. So it is not that uncommon as you thought. My uncle is a diabetic and recently he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, which is a similar case. A destruction of pancreas, due to fibrosis, is the main cause of CF related diabetes. An insulin treatment will give you a few pounds, and you have a special diet to treat your condition. You will probably have to eat enough calories, eat fat and stuff like that.
