Im 21 years old- im taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo since June of 06- and my boyfriend and i have unprotected sex occasionally- most of the time use condoms- i kno i kno... bad..  we've both been tested for stds recently and were both clean as a whistle! and ive also seen my gyno who sais everything is fine...
... BUT ...
recently in the last two months- ive been getting this thick brownish slimy discharge and it starts about a week before my period and sometimes randomly throughout the month- its supre gross and awkward and been killing the mood  -last month- it TOTALLY freaked me out- and i was CONVINCED i was pregnant- which is not for me at this time in my life- hence the BC- but anyways...
...to add a little more drama to my predicament- we both went to vegas for new years- so i skipped my inactive pills and started a new pack cause i figured i didnt want to start the new year on my period...  i kno i kno... not cool either- well today is jan. 3rd (Wednesday) which means im on the new pack about four days into it-
... ALSO i feel i should say that in the last couple months, my eating habits have been tad on the unhealthy side- with the holidays, however im changing my diet to try to loose some of those holiday pounds- and i also recently started taking green tea extract in the last couple months as well- side effects maybe of that?
... im still getting the dark brown discharge, which stains my panties, and sometimes super thick- which i feel could be symptoms of skipping my period- but honestly- im really scared that this isnt normal- could i be pregnant? is it left over cum? left over menstruation? should i take a test? try douching? change my diet? HELP!!!
... im reaching out for advice because my gyno JUST told me like a month ago that everything is cool.... IM SO CONFUSED!!!!!! and im reading all these posts everywhere and nothing is giving me even a slight answer...

damn gurl im having the same problems.... i dont kno wats going im tryin to find out...but ive been lookin it up and it says on some web pages the that it could indicate being pregnant or maybe an infection,  |

I've been on yaz bc for about 3 months and am supposed to start my period next week. this week i've been having brown discharge (for the last 4 days)....i've never had this happen either....and i have been on bc before in the past for a couple years and never had it happen. i also have unprotected sex pretty much all the time...so i don't know what is with the brown discharge. from what i've heard bc pills just do that to you sometimes. i know what you mean about it ruining the mood....its aggravating and annoying! is this the first time you have had it happen? i've also had a bit of a change in my diet lately and i guess i'm more stressed around the holidays....i just hope it never happens again!! good luck  |

i've also been taking bc for years now and i've been on yaz for about three months. in all honesty i havent even had sex since like my first week of taking this new yaz pill. and it was unprotected, while i was on my period (hey it was an ex- i was comfortable with him  . anywho- i've been having this really bad brown discharge for about a week now. and it's completely freaking me out. i was just tested for STD's in august and i was good to go. and they tested me for pregnancy about 3weeks ago when i was in the ER because i was having terrible ab pains, and they said that was good to go as well. so i'm completely lost on the subject, not to mention completely freaked out. |

| I'm on Yaz too, and same happens to me. Ususally it's something that comes with taking birthcontrol, as if women weren't punished enough with periods. I ESPECIALLY get it when I skip around on pills, so I wouldn't worry about it. It CAN be a sign of pregnancy, but I would look for other symptoms too, like peeing a lot, sore breasts, darker areols ect. Usually, if your pregnant, it's more pink like and more straight up blood drops, rather than brownish discharge. Hope it helps, but don't worry, becuase I thought the same thing a couple of months ago. |

| the birth control pill can cause the brown discharge if for example you missed a pill, changed the pill, or didnt have the gap you were meant to. its just like a hormone imbalance thing. but if th discharge is persistant and its bothering you, i would strongly suggest goping to your GP and asking him, if not go to a family planning centre im sure they will answer everything and if you are concerned they will most probably offer you a pregnancy test. Good luck i hope you all get the answers you want! |

Oh god I'm having the same problems.

I'm actively on the pill but I changed my period cycle so I could make it come morwe conviniently and I've been on yaz since march but i had unprotected sex like mid december with this guy and I've been having the discharge [gross, but hey at least it doesnt smell like anything] for 2 1/2 weeks. I'm going to the doctor soon, but a PREGNANCY? I don't feel pregnant, I don't have any wierd eating or puking or anything issues, but now I'm scared...

i get the same thing...dark brown discharge...EVERY MONTH about a week before my period...usually during my 3rd week of the pill....
but it's annoying and gets messy sometimes when having sex.....
i'm wondering if changing the pill would make it better because i've been on trycyclin for 6 years. maybe my body just needs a change? |

I just had a baby on feb 8 2008...and Iv been on yaz now for about 2 1/2 weeks and started to have that gross thick dark brown discharge...my husband and I had unprotected sex only 3 days after I started th BC..I know stupid....I v been freaken out that Im pregnant again cuz I remember having that same brown discharge a week or two before I found out I was pregnant with my son....Im praying its just the pills .....Im not ready to have a nother one just yet!!!  |

I'm glad I'm not the only one!
it's so weird though because I have been on the pill for a long time and nothing usually happens like this!
Its really uncomfortable and gross and I'm scared.
I'm 16 - I can't be pregnant.
Really not cool, apparently its a way of your body "cleaning itself out" also but I'm not so sure.
I don't feel pregnant? |
