Hi, I used Depo as a method for birth control.
I got the shot sometime in April but never went
back for a second one since I had read more about
it and became worried about it's long-term use effects.

It's been awhile and my period has been prolonged
for weeks, and it just doesn't stop. To make matters
worse I've also noticed a long elastic like dark red
discharge coming out of my vagina occasionally.

I'm really worried, and would like to know
if I do have a reason to be.

i had the same problem as you except, i was on the pill (Loestrin) and i discontinued taking them to try and conceive. i had a dark red and sometimes brownish discharge afterwards. it lasted for a couple weeks and i was SO worried that something was wrong with me. i went to the doctor and they told me that was normal after discontinuing BC. so you shouldnt have nething to worry about! that should go away shortly! i hope i helped.... Confused
