Hi, my grandma has dementia. Two month ago she new to find her way home back from parc, now she has lost ability to orientate and think clearly. What are prognosis for elder people losing memory?

Dementia is a progressive brain dysfunction leading to loss of ability to mange itself and reasonably think and control behavior. Many brain diseases can result in dementia but the most often is Alzheimer's disease. In society of longer lifetime there is increased number of patients suffering from dementia. Dementia like many other diseases has no cure, but medication can improve disease symptoms. Drugs for improving brain function and antidementia or psychotropic drugs are prescribed. The probability for developing dementia increases with age, every third 90 years old suffers from dementia.
