My grandfather has dementia; also he has myotonic muscular dystrophy. Can anyone tell are this disease similar, or those are a different diseases. He changed, he isn’t anymore same person. I think that cause for personality change is dementia. Is that so?

Hi! Those diseases are different.
Motonic muscular dystrophy also called myotonia atrophica, Steinert's disease. A severe form of muscular dystrophy; it is characterized by drooping eyelids, facial weakness, and speaking difficulties. Weakness occurs first in the hands and feet. It occurs later in the shoulders and hips. There is no specific treatment. However, exercises are used to relieve symptoms.
Dementia is a disorder in which mental functions deteriorate and break down, grows worse with time and is marked by personality change, confusion, and lethargy. Thinking, reason, memory, and judgment are also affected. The cause is usually brain disease. Now, you can understand a difference.
