I am taking Depkote and have for several years. I have gained alot of wait and have been unable to take it off even though I excersie and watch what I eat. I am also sarting to have anxiety attacks that have been increasing. I have attacks almost weekly. Is this normal what can I do to control it?

I was on depakote for a week. I gained 8 (yes, EIGHT!) pounds in that week. the doctor told me from the start that it would make me gain weight, and wow did it ever.... I never got to the full dosage because I had a severe allergic reaction to it and had to be taken off immediately. But that is the MAJOR side effect of depakote... nomatter the exercise or the foods you eat. I would suggest talking to your doctor about it, because there are many other meds that can help you as well as not make you gain weight.
