My son is 2 years old. He was diagnosed with asthma and prescribed with dexamethasone, among other medications. We in our family have never use any hormonal drugs, so I am afraid about dexamethasone. What are possible side effects of this drug? What can I expect in my son? Do you have personal experience?

I have asthma, too. So, I am using Dexamethasone for year. There are several side effects, divides in minor and major. Minor are: weight gain, facial swelling, nervousness, acne, rash. Major side effects are: depression, unusual fatigue or weakness, blurred vision, abdominal pain, bloody or black stools, infections, painful hips and shoulders and osteoporosis. This thing occur in adults, maybe things are different in kids. Try to talk this over with his doctor.
