I have had diarrea for over a week maybe longer. I figured that it might go away. I waited it out for awhile and its still not gone. Every time i eat i have to go right to the bathroom. There isnt much coming out of but still i would like this to stop. I have taken Kaopectate and Imodium. Both seem to give more gas.

Im afraid to go to the doctor because im nervous about some going in my butt. Yes that sound childish! I am only 15...

help? Very Happy

Hi! A doc may not even have to put anything onto your bum. There are other ways of determining if something’s the matter.

You may undergo a physical exam and tell the doc all about your eating habits. S/he may order a stool culture where you will have to take a small piece of stool down to a laboratory to see if there were bacteria or parasites present and if they are causing an infection. You can have a blood test ( that’s not nice either but it is tolerable) to check for other diseases.

Then you may have to fast. It may have that you are food intolerant or food allergic and you will have to give up certain foods for a while and see if there was a change in your bowel movements.
If nothing was found, you may have to undergo a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy. I don’t know about teenagers but children are given general anesthesia.

If you still decide not to go to the doctors, at least try to avoid the following foods: milk, very sweat foods, foods that are greasy and foods that have a lot of fiber in them like vegetables and fruits.
I would see a doc because it may be a bacteria or another parasite that is making you feel that way.
