Posted: 03/27/07 - 00:22 Post subject: Did I ovulate after stopping the pill? |
| I was on the pill for a bout 5 years and decided to stop so we could get pregnant. I have been doing some research and it says that women who come off the pill should wait 1-3 months before trying to conceive. One reason is that some women do not ovulate while their bodies are returning to normal; howver, I took an ovulation test last month and it was positive for two days. Does that mean that I ovulated last month and my body is capable of ovulating now? |

Posted: 12/31/07 - 09:01 Post subject: UPDATE PLEASE |
| Can you please update me on your situation. Im trying to find others like me: I came off the pill in July since my husband and I wanted to start trying. Long story short - no period since then - so its been 5 months with no periods. I do, however, have symptoms of ovulating and am pretty sure I ovulate every month. To be sure, a few weeks ago I felt I was ovulating - tested it and it came out positive. Its been 3 weeks and still no period. No article offers any help for us having this problem. My Dr. dismisses it as no problem and her solution is Clomid. She tested me for PCOS and every other condition possible and I am a perfectly healthy 26 year old woman. They say, no period means you didnt ovulate and there is no other answer - but how could this be if I AM ovulating? My husband and I havent started trying yet until my body goes back to normal. I am just looking to talk to others like me! I know I can probably take Clomid and or other fertility drugs but why cant my problem be explained?! |

Posted: 01/15/08 - 18:43 Post subject: No Ovulation For Over 6 Months After Pill |
To pdtroubles2 -
I'm 24 and was on birth control for almost 3 years. I came off the pill in August, then had a period in September, and then didn't have any periods for over 3 months. My doctor said that I wasn't ovulating and prescribed PROMETRIUM to reset my cycle, and get me ovulating again. She said I didn't have enough pergesterone to have a pergesterone drop to cause a period. I started a period right after finishing the pills like my doctor said I would, but since then I have had "periods" every other week for over a month.
Now my doctor says my body still has not started ovulating since going off of the pill, and they want me to take a month of birth control pills to try to get my cycle normal. She said that my estrogen was too low or just not balanced to hold on to the lining of the uterus for the whole month.
And they keep telling me that this is perfectly normal after going off the pill, but I'm pretty upset. I was looking forward to getting pregnant soon, and not ovulating is pretty discouraging.
I hope your situation is going better. |
