Im 13 and im scared I have ovarian cancer. Sometimes i get pain on just one side near my hip. Like, a sharp pain. I went to the doctor and he said i was just had some constipation thing. And he felt for somthing (lumps?) Im scared i have it ah! I have a sore back and abdomen but i think that might of been from when i went for a big walk.

You may also have ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts can be removed by a relatively non-intrusive surgery called laparoscopy where the surgeon makes two to three small cuts in your lower abdomen and inserts a small telescoping laser to zap away the cysts. He or she will also typically take a biopsy at this time to test for cancer.

Word to the wise: I developed very large ovarian cysts on my right ovary that caused severe constipation all the time and severe pain (we're talking seeing black spots in front of your eyes, losing feeling in your limbs, etc.) and did not go to see any doctor for a very long time. When I did finally go, my ovary had become so infested and large (the size of a grapefruit) with these ultimately benign cysts that I had to have it removed. Currently, I have only one ovary, and it also has cysts. I am being tested for ovarian cancer yet again. I am 30.

The best thing to do would be to consult an obstetrican/gynecologist regarding this, not a general practitioner. He or she may be able to set your mind to rest and get you on the road to recovery. Razz
