In 2005 I started to have problems with my bowels, and abdominal pain. I then had my gallbladder removed in March of 2005. In October 2006 I was diagnosed with optic neuritis. I had an MRI scan and only one white spot was detected on the right side of the brain. I then had a spinal tap done that showed nothing. Since then I develped abdominal pain, pelvic pain, leg pain, my hands went through about four days of cramping and then spasming, I have had horrible balance and coordination for years, I started to have shock like feelings go through my body, and sometimes I drop things for no reason. My hips hurt when i sit or walk, my back hurts everyday. I was recently diagnosed with IBS and fibromyelshia. So many symptoms to list. I have an appointment with a neurologist for a second opinion but not until August. Please does anyone now if this might be MS or if doctors are looking for my diagnosis in the wrong place?

I have several friends with MS and yes, they all had experienced the Optic Neuritis before getting the official diagnosis. Much of the symptoms you are describing do occur with MS.

One of my friends did not test positive for MS in the spinal tap but the MRI showed it.

Anyway, I am not saying that you do or don't have MS. But in the event that it turns out this is the case, please remember that everything can be fine and you can most likely "alas" have the explanation for all these "bizarre" symptoms.

Optic Neuritis is actually one of the worst of the symptoms one of my friend has experienced. But I digress.

The only other thing I would like to comment on here is that if you are diagnosed with this, please start the treatments upon the diagnosis if you can. One of my friends had optic neuritis and it took three years to get the official diagnosis. My other friend had a few months' wait. Regardless, I do think that finding and treating this upon diagnosis is one of the keys. And if it is MS, at the least, the symptoms you are experiencing can actually be treated with medicines that may bring relief to such symptoms.

Neither one of my friends has experienced abdominal or pelvic pain, but you pretty much described some of their experiences with everything else.

Good luck to you and please remember that MS is
