My daughter was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning and was diagnosed with cdif last night. She had been very sick for 4 days and went to a doctor the 3 day and sent home to ride it out, I made her go back the next morning because by then she was passing blood. They admitted her and she is still there. After reading some of these stories I am getting more concerned about this cdif...how did she get this and does it go away. She has not recieved any more information from her doctor yet and is waiting to see her for the second time since was got there.

Go to wikipedia.com and look up c-diff. It has great information there about it.
I had c-diff at one time and I didn't go to the hospital, although I was extremely sick and in severe abdominal pain. (My mom's a registered nurse, so she took care of me from home, including giving me IVs from home.) As long as she's very well hydrated and resting, it's my belief that she'll be okay. |

| My son battles with CDIF everytime he completes an antibiotic. We just got over it the week of Christmas, he was very very sick and when he gets it we are there on iv and npo. They give him an antibiotic called flagyl and that kills it. It is my understanding that when a child or an elderly person gets it, it is very delicate. Make sure that once she completes the Flagyl they retest her stool to see if it is negative. The first time my son had it they didnt test him and he still had it. this last time he got tested and was negative. I hope this helps you. she is getting help and they know what it is now so I am sure she will be just fine. |

| A close friend of mine almost died recently from cdif, but her doctor sent her to a specialist who said her only hope was to have an enema filled with the stool of another person in order to counteract the infection. This sounds like a joke, but it is not. The doctor claims the alternative is death. I am wondering if anyone has heard of a treatment such as this before. |
