Our way of life has gotten us away from both preparing foods at home and physical activity. This is resulting in more and more children being overweight. Within the childhood obesity outbreak is an increasing number of overweight 2-year-olds.
Since the mid-1970s the rate of obese children had doubled. Today 10% of 2-year-olds are overweight. Thirty years ago foods that were nutritional were considered kids' foods. Nowadays, kids' foods are viewed as sweets, snacks or so-called comfort foods.

In order to change this we need to change our habits and life style and the kids will follow our steps. It is advised that children age two and older need to eat mostly fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat and non-fat dairy products, beans, fish and lean meat.
Parents need to cut down on fast food and set an example for children, otherwise the nation will be facing even bigger problems with obesity and all the disease that go along with it.

Not to forget, being overweight or obese presents a great risk factor for many diseases and health conditions like hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and respiratory problems and even some cancers.
